Who Is Jeanne Grunert?
Hi, I’m Jeanne. I’m the person behind Seven Oaks Consulting—and I’ve been making a living with words for more than 30 years. I’m a marketer, content strategist, writer, editor, storyteller, and problem solver. Before I started Seven Oaks in 2007, I led marketing for education and financial services organizations; since then, I’ve helped businesses make sense of their marketing, explain complicated products and services, and find the right words to connect with their customers. I’ve written hundreds of articles, developed content strategies, ghostwritten for executives, edited more content than I can remember, and written and published novels along the way.
I believe good marketing starts with listening. I want to understand your business, your customers, what you’re trying to accomplish, and what isn’t working before I start throwing words at the page. That might mean developing a content strategy, rescuing a neglected blog, sharpening your messaging, writing a thought leadership piece, managing an RFP, or simply helping you figure out what the heck you should be saying. I currently also serve as the Marketing and Branding Expert for the National Association of Independent Writers and Editors, so yes, I spend a lot of time thinking about words, brands, and how the two work together.
I’m a lifelong writer, a lifelong learner, and an optimist by nature. When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me somewhere outside—gardening, hiking, enjoying our animals, or working on a novel. But put a good business problem in front of me and I’m just as happy digging into that. I love figuring things out, finding the story hiding underneath all the jargon, and helping good businesses tell that story well.
