Job Title: RFP Writer (Remote, Freelance)

Freelance Writer for federal, state, and private Request for Proposal (RFP) and Request for Quotation (RFQ) responses. 

Job Type: Freelance, Independent Contractor

Compensation: Hourly

Pay Range: $50 – $75+ per hour, commensurate with experience

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled RFP Writer to join our team on a remote, freelance basis. As an RFP Writer, you will play a crucial role in crafting responses to requests for proposals (RFPs), ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with our clients’ goals. You will collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders across various internal and client teams to gather information and create compelling proposals that effectively address client needs. Attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently are essential for success in this role. Strict adherence to deadlines, responsiveness, and reliability are essential qualifications for the job.

 

Responsibilities

  • Read incoming requests for proposals
  • Participate in kick-off meetings, strategy sessions, and proposal project planning
  • Review and customize RFP responses from the proposal content library
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and proposal contributors to articulate complex facets of products and services
  • Review and edit RFP responses created by SMEs and stakeholders from various internal teams
  • Ensure responses follow brand style and tone guidelines as well as coach SMEs as needed
  • Verify that responses address key customer hot buttons and win themes
  • Write or review additional RFP response documents and attachments including RFP cover letters and executive summaries
  • Incorporate feedback from proposal review sessions
  • Assist with proposal knowledge management and retention of content for future use

 

Requirements

  • Experience writing responses to federal, state, and private corporate RFPs and RFQs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Familiarity with brand style and tone guidelines
  • Experience collaborating with subject matter experts and stakeholders
  • Proficiency in document editing and management tools
  • Strict adherence to deadlines
  • PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Slack, Trello experience a plus

 

This is a freelance, independent contractor position with hours to be determined.

Experience in writing for the technology, manufacturing, and education industries is preferred.

 

This position offers the flexibility of remote work on an as-needed basis. As an independent contractor, you will have the freedom to manage your own schedule and workload.

 

Responsibilities

  • Generate engaging and informative content tailored to the target audience and specific industry niches.
  • Research and understand client requirements, objectives, and target audience to produce high-quality content that meets their needs.
  • Adhere to deadlines and deliver assignments in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with the editorial team to ensure content aligns with company standards and objectives.
  • Revise and edit content as needed based on feedback and direction from clients or editors.

 

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a freelance writer, with a portfolio demonstrating writing ability and versatility.
  • Strong writing skills with impeccable grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Ability to write in a variety of tones and styles to suit different content types and client preferences.
  • Experience writing for technology, manufacturing, and education industries preferred.
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and keyword optimization techniques.
  • Excellent research skills and ability to convey complex information in an understandable manner.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Effective communication skills and willingness to collaborate with team members and clients.
