About Me
Jeanne Rudmann Grunert
"She cares as much about the people as the work." Mike Marsh, President, K & M Diversified
Who am I? I'm an award-winning freelance writer who published her first short stories as a teenager and went on to write books, magazine articles and more. I've also been blessed to lead the marketing departments for major companies and non profit organizations. Here's why you should choose me for your writing and marketing projects.
Award Winning WriterI began my writing career by
winning a national short story contest at age 13 and studying fiction
writing with Nancy Kress and Stephen Donaldson. I've since gone on to an award-winning career writing nonfiction articles, personal essays and books.
At last count, I've published over 500 pieces in print
and online. My work has appeared in Jack Canfield's
Chicken Soup for the Soul series of books, in various anthologies,
Newsday, Horse Illustrated, The Gem, the Price-Pottenger Nutrition Foundation Journal, OfficePro, The Fashion Manuscript and many other publications.
I currently serve as a Group Editor and Senior Writer for
LoveToKnow.com, a contributing writer for
About.com, and a columnist and staff writer for
RawPeople.com. I edit and manage several websites for other clients as well as write blog posts, articles, and much more.
I graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in English
from Molloy College and earned an M.A. in Writing from Queens College. I
also taught English grammar in a continuing education program and a
course called
Write With Ease and am a certified Adult Educator.
"Work with Jeanne once, and
you'll want to work with her again and again."
- Allen Mogol, Marketing Professional, Writer
Real World Marketing ExperienceFor over 20 years, I led marketing departments, developed and launched products, and turned around failing marketing programs for my employers. My career includes marketing leadership positions for national education publishers, educational testing companies, an Ivy League University, upscale home and garden centers and a financial services company.
“ I said to the person
who'd introduced us,
"No wonder you rave about her, she's really
amazing!""
- Veronica "Niki" Fielding, President, Digital Brand Expressions
I've Been in Your Shoes as an Entrepreneur: My Ecommerce CompanyIn addition to Seven Oaks, my husband and I also co-founded EquinArt Creations, an online, upscale ecommerce site for model horse enthusiasts, an outgrowth of my lifelong passion for model horses (miniature horse statues and collectibles.)
Graduate Level Education in Both Writing and MarketingI earned a Master of Arts in Writing from Queens College and a Master of
Science in Direct and Online Marketing degree at New York University,
graduating with distinction at the top of my class. Lester Wunderman,
the legendary direct marketer, presented me with an Award of Excellence
in Direct Marketing, an honor I will always cherish.
Personal Life
In 2005, my husband and I bought 17 acres of a former timber farm in rural Virginia and in 2007 we moved from Long Island, New York, to Seven Oaks Farm where we live and work. I love to be outdoors working in the garden, hiking through the woods, or just enjoying nature.
I'm "mom" to a neurotic German Shepherd mix dog named Shadow and an enormous junkyard cat with a fancy name, Pierre.
I love to sing with my church's choir. I play piano quite badly no matter how much I practice. I consider myself a spiritual seeker and study metaphysics, meditation, raw/vegan and vegetarian living, and world religions.
Crazy facts about me: I can recite most of the dialogue from two James Bond movies,
Goldfinger and
Thunderball. Every time I get tickets for a Deep Purple concert, the band cancels their tour. I once read Voltaire's
Candide in the original French just for fun. No one ever pronounces my first name correctly, unless they're French, and most people mangle the pronunciation of my last name, unless they're German.
Enough about me. How about you?
Let's talk about your project.
