The Magic Marketing Rule of Five
I’m re-reading one of my favorite inspirational books, Jack Canfield’s The Success Principles. If you haven’t read it, I urge you to get a copy out of the library or buy a copy. It’s an excellent book for entrepreneurs, business owners and anyone striving for business and personal success.
I read a little every night and always find a gem in it. Last night I flipped the pages open at random and came across “The Rule of Five.” Simply stated, the rule of five says that if you do five sales or marketing tasks a day, you’ll inch towards your goal and ultimately achieve it.
- Write five pages a day and you will have a novel in a year.
- Make five cold calls or emails every day and you will make a sale.
- Update five products on your website every day.
I use the magic marketing ‘rule of five’ to tackle my to-do and task list because often it’s huge and I feel completely overwhelmed. For example, on our equine art and model horse business, I have to do a complete update of our website, ads on a major website, and eBay store. That feels huge because we have close to 100 products and many need HTML coding updates, SEO updates, and more. So what did I do? I wrote out the tasks, and have been slowly chipping away at them using the rule of five. Over time, the rule of five means I get them DONE.
How about you? What rules of five

Reading about other businesses and what they are doing is always helpful.
